VOLKAN ASLAN

La pratique récente de Volkan Aslan est influencée à la fois par ses souvenirs et par ses impressions sur la malléabilité de notre perception du temps. Ces souvenirs, à moitié mémorisés, à moitié oubliés, l’attirent vers certains objets de sa vie quotidienne qui lui rappellent son passé. Il les manipule de manière ludique pour former des constructions surréalistes, des associations personnelles avec des interprétations nouvelles et inattendues.

Son installation vidéo Home Sweet Home (2017), a été projetée à la 15e Biennale d’Istanbul sous le commissariat d’Elmgreen & Dragset. Son triptyque interroge les frontières entre sédentaires et nomades, entre intérieur et extérieur, entre sécurit et danger, et souligne la fragilité de l’état actuel de chacun d’entre nous.

Volkan Aslan est né en 1982 à Ankara, il a étudié la peinture à l’école des Beaux-Arts de Mersin. Il vit et travaille actuellement à Istanbul en Turquie.
